During our second exposure, we deepened our understanding of the community through a more comprehensive assessment — exploring their social determinants of health and finalizing our priority health concerns based on the data gathered.
The survey tools were validated by our preceptor for our FGD and Key informant interview which was done during the second and third week.
Through our community assessment, we identified and prioritized seven major health-related problems based on the perspectives and lived experiences of the residents. These were ranked in order of urgency and impact as follows: (1) the increased prevalence of animal bites, (2) lack of access to safe and potable water, (3) rising cases of non-communicable diseases, (4) incidence of schistosomiasis, (5) improper waste disposal practices, (6) increased prevalence of respiratory infections, and (7) the growing number of teenage pregnancies. This prioritization reflects the community’s own understanding of their most pressing health concerns, allowing us to align our interventions with their actual needs.
Aside from doing our objective for this exposure, we were able to assist in their monthly immunization, cervical screening, and goodbye bulate OPLAN.
