In the oral history among the residents of Barangay Salinding, the first pioneer families which had settled in the area during the early 1920’s are the Subanen clans of Puasa, Salinding, Tabol, and Carino. They were followed with the waves of immigration of settlers of diverse ethnicity coming from various places. Although this settlement existed for more than one-hundred years now, the formal creation of the Barangay only happened in the year 1983. Hence, Barangay Salinding was legally established in the year 1983 through the effort of the former Barangay Captain Floresto Togonon to ensure the sustainability of the settlement in the Barangay (Besana, 2023).
