Online Course Design and Teaching Checklist

• QUOTE: "Course contains links to the institutional Online Course Orientation" || I didn't even know this existed at COD; where can this be located?
• QUOTE: "The course contains links to the COD software download page for easy access to any tools needed for the course" || is this available via the Portal? Or somewhere else?

Online Literacy Instruction (OLI) Principles and Tenets

• QUOTE: "The student-user experience should be prioritized when designing online courses, which includes mobile-friendly content, interaction affordances, and economic needs" (Principle 1.4). || The mobile-friendly experience is among my greatest frustrations with Blackboard. Perhaps Professor Snart can help us identify ways in which to maximize any mobile UX features in BB.
• QUOTE: "Institutional support systems and programs (i.e., tutoring centers, student academic success centers, disabilities services) should be available minimally" (Principle 1.6). || As noted above, does Learning Technologies maintain a list of links and resources related to these services?
• QUOTE: "All program developers and institutional administrators should commit to supporting and implementing a regular, iterative process of professional development and course/program assessment for online literacy instruction" (Principle 2). || Uhh....
• QUOTE: "Administrators should cap OLCs responsibly at 20 students per course with 15 being a preferable number" (Principle 2.4) || Ugh.
• QUOTE: "​To work toward more effective, pedagogically sound OLI, both instructors and tutors should commit to regular, iterative processes that develop, revise, and refine all aspects of teaching and tutoring to include pedagogy" (Principle 3). || While not everyone at COD teaches online, regular In-Service meetings dedicated to this would be incredibly worthwhile.
