2024
2024 07 Tenure: I have been awarded tenure! My contract has been upgraded from temporary to permanent, and I am now officially a UD1 (Universitair Docent 1), a tenured assistant professor.
2024 06 Conferences: I will attend MAPSP 2024 (Kolding, Denmark), EURO 2024 (Copenhagen, Denmark) and the seminar Dynamic Traffic Models in Transportation Science (Dagstuhl, Germany) between June 23 and July 12, giving a talk about Bicriteria Nash Flows over Time. I'm looking forward to the events!

2024 05 Organization seminar: On Thursday, May 23, from 13.30 to 16.30, Leen Stougie and I will organize the Dutch Intercity Seminar on Optimization at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Georgina Hall and Alexandra Lassota will give invited talks and there will be a session with lightning talks. You can find all information on this website.
2024 01 Conference: I will attend the 14th Day on Computational Game Theory in Bonn on March 7-8 and talk about Bicriteria Nash Flows over Time. I am sure this next edition of the event will be just as interesting and fruitful and I am looking forward to it!
2024 01 Research visit: I will be visiting the group of prof. Max Klimm at the TU Berlin from January 22 to 26. I will give a hybrid talk about The Secretary Problem with Independent Sampling on Tuesday at 10.30. I'm sure with our many overlapping research interests and areas of expertise, it will be a fruitful visit!
2024 01 Conference: I will attend the yearly Dutch conference on the mathematics of operations research as well as the NGB seminar on urban logistics in Soesterberg on January 15 - 17. I'm very much looking forward to seeing everyone there again!

2023 11 Young OR Day: I will attend the Young OR Day, happening at the Dutch railways (NS) on November 21. I'm looking forward to learn about the Operations Research problems they face and their approaches to deal with them!
2023 11 Workshop: I will attend the Dutch Day on Optimization, happening at Maastricht University on November 9. With very interesting talks and many familiar participants, I am sure it will be a great event!
2023 09 Program committee: I will serve as a Program Committee member of WAOA 2023, which will happen in Amsterdam on September 7-8. We are looking forward to a great workshop!
2023 07 Organization seminar: I have been asked to join the organization committee of the Dutch Seminar on Optimization. I'm looking forward to helping out in this amazing seminar series!
2023 07 Talk: On July 14, my former PhD supervisor Tjark Vredeveld will be inaugurated as professor at Maastricht University. I will give a talk at the seminar in his honor, happening before the inauguration. It's going to be a very happy day!
2023 06 Conference: The paper "Exact and approximation algorithms for routing a convoy through a graph" of Martijn van Ee, René Sitters, Andreas Wiese and me has been accepted for the MFCS conference, which will take place this August!

2023 05 Seminar invitation: I will travel to Universität Passau from May 7 to May 10 as I have been invited to give a seminar there, and I will stay a couple of days to talk about research. I'm very much looking forward to seeing everyone there again!
2023 02 Activity: Together with a colleague I organized the yearly activity for our department. It was really nice!
2023 01 Research visit: I will attend the yearly summer school and workshop in discrete mathematics of the Universidad de Chile and the CMM and stay there for 3 weeks as a research visit. I am looking forward to it and hope it will be as fruitful as the previous visits!

2022 09 Conference: The paper "Bicriteria Nash Flows over Time" by Daniel Schmand, Marc Schröder and me has been accepted for the WINE conference, which will take place this December!
2022 11 PhD defense and symposium: On the 25th of November, Moritz Buchem, the PhD whom I co-supervised at Maastricht University, will defend his thesis "Hiking in the Scheduling Landscape: Exact and Approximation Algorithms for Parallel Machines". We organized a small symposium on the day itself with several speakers of the committee, here is the announcement!
2022 09 Workshop: I will attend the 12th Day(s) on Computational Game Theory in Bremen on September 29-30. I will give a talk about The Secretary Problem with Independent Sampling on Friday afternoon. I have been asked to organize the next edition of this workshop, which I am very happy to host in Amsterdam on June 15-16, 2023!
2022 09 PhD: This month, Steven Miltenburg has started as the new PhD supervised by my colleague René Sitters and me. We are happy he joined our team and hope we can share some very nice years together!
2022 06 Workshop: I will attend the 15th Workshop on Models and Algorithms for Planning and Scheduling (MAPSP) in Oropa, Italy from June 12 to June 17. I will give a talk on Monday morning, you can find the slides on that page!
2022 06 Conference: I will attend the yearly NGB/LNMB Seminar, which usually takes place in January but it has been postponed due to COVID-19 to take place in Lunteren in June. I am looking forward to it!
2022 05 PhD position: We are hiring! Our department is looking for a PhD candidate on the topic of optimizing network flow dynamics and the candidate will be closely working with me. Are you or do you know someone with a solid background in applied mathematics, computer science, operations research or a related area, who is highly motivated to pursue a PhD? 2022 05 Workshop: I have been invited to participate in the Dagstuhl seminar on Dynamic Traffic Assignments from May 8 to 13. Unfortunately, I had to decline the invitation due to the overlapping workshop, but I really hope to participate next time!

2018 10 Research visit: Together with Pieter Kleer, I am visiting Veerle Timmermans in the group of Britta Peis at the RWTH Aachen in Germany. We're hoping for some nice congestion games results!
