Can and Will

Tujuan Pembelajaran:

Melalui serangkaian pembelajaran peserta didik diharapkan mampu bertanya dan menceritakan kemampuan melakukan sesuatu (can).
Melalui serangkaian pembelajaran peserta didik diharapkan mampu bertanya dan mengatakan kesediaan melakukan sesuatu (will).

I. Expressions

To explain someone's ability

Examples:

I can drive.
She can swim very well.
He can ride a horse.

To make promises

Examples:

I will send it tomorrow.
She will come soon.
He will give you the book.

To invite someone

Examples:

Will you come to the party with me?
Will you join us?

II. Grammar: Modal Can, Can't

We use can to talk about what someone can or cannot do:

a. in the present, when it is generally true.

Examples: I can swim // Can you play the guitar?

b. in the present or at this moment.

Example: I can swim now.

c. in the future, with a time expression.

Example: He can't attend the meeting tomorrow.

III. Grammar: Modal Will and Will not

We use will to make promises and talk about voluntary actions in the future.

Examples:

I promise that I will text you every single day. (a promise)
I will make breakfast tomorrow. (a voluntary action)

We also use will to make predictions about the future.

Example:

She thinks it will rain soon.
