To honour our veterans, there were two free tours on the weekend before Remebrance Day this year.
The first tour, on Saturday, covered the memorials on and around Green Island. 53 people (and 3 dogs!) came out on a beautiful sunny day to see the eight monuments.
The second tour, on Sunday, took us from Confederation Square to the Cartier Drill Hall. 75 people (but only one dog) braved the autumn chill to see the dozen memorials.
The turnout was far beyond what I expected and I'd like to thank everyone who participated. I'd also like to thank Jill Collins and Mark Morton who helped shepherd the crowds along the route and make sure I answered questions.
Further thanks to Janes Walks and the CBC for helping to get the word out. Listen to the interview on the CBC's In Town and Out from Saturday moring.
For those who attended, or wish they had, who want to learn a little more, please take a look at the Ottawa Militray Memorials Tour web site. And for those who wanted to make a donation - Poppy Fund
