In 2026, the Timberlane Music Association, in partnership with the music department, launched a new fund to support music commissioning projects for our students. Our goal is to raise $5,000 annually to help Timberlane continue to stand out as one of New Hampshire’s premier music programs by commissioning a new piece of music with one of our music groups. What Is a Music Commissioning Project?

It’s a chance for our students to work with a professional composer who creates an original piece written specifically for Timberlane. Our ensembles—band, chorus, orchestra, guitar, or a combination—would be the first in the world to perform it. 

Students gain a real-world connection to the creative process and take pride in bringing brand-new music to life. For our community, it becomes a signature moment created for and premiered by Timberlane. While some schools commission pieces for special occasions, TMA is the first in New Hampshire to commit to making this a recurring tradition.

2025–2026: Our First Year

In the Spring of 2026, TMA launched the initiative by bringing the Sing Me a Story program to Timberlane to debut a piece entitled "Stronger Together". This project paired a child with a severe illness with a composer who turned the child’s illustrated story into an original piece our students premiered—blending compassion, creativity, and performance. We also commissioned an original jazz piece entitlted "In Celebration" for our musicians which debuted as a tribute to longtime Timberlane music teacher Ken Clark, who retired in 2026.
