Snails and Potions is a game where you play as a witch that has to fight for ingredients to make potions to help your snail or sabotage the other one, the snail that reach the finish first wins.
I worked mostly on basic setup like gameModes/ scenemanagment/ character movement and in game interactions, working with the physics from unreal was especially challenging but worth it.

For Brugge Howest sportinovation, we created a fitness app for on your tablet. You start with a single building, on this building you can start a mission to build a new one.
These missions are a series a fitness based movements, work out to build your kingdom.
I worked on the object interactions between your image and the in game objects.
We used the Tracking4All framework for the character to follow our movement.

I created a quick combat game in 2 weeks for testing out 2 different decision making algorithms in the way the can be created and implemented.
I created a UtilityAI and a Goal-Orientend Action Planning (GOAP) implementation and used both of them in a way that the npc will react similar to each other.
I made them to dodge attacks, keep their stamina in check and attack his opponent. when health is lowered to run away and recover.
actions:
Quick attack
Heavy attack
Throw rock
Heal
Block
This is my first unreal engine game with c++ (mostly still blueprints)
This was the assignment off game mechanics in the 3th semester, we had to create a game following 2 keywords (action and skill).
Since I enjoy the muay tai trainings, i decided to make a game based on it. You can only dodge to side or below, but this will cost stamina which you need to punch back.
I tried making this as realistic as possible, dodge with your mouse movement and punch back with clicking RMB or LMB.
I made a simple AI as enemy which will fight back harder every round. max skill as champion. I did this by making the enemy fight back faster and have smaller idle(vulnerable) time after his hits.

About me
Hi, I am Tijl. I am a graduate game development from Howest DAE. I started my journey in programming out of fascination for the immersive feeling you can get while playing a character, moving around in a brand new world.
As someone who practiced martial arts for over 10 years, I loved the interactions in combat games especially the npc response. This drove me to go deeper in decision making algorithms and devoted my graduate thesis about a comparison study between Goal-Oriented Action Planning (GOAP) and Utility AI.
It became my passion to keep improving my GOAP implementation, making it more easy to use and flexible for setting difficulty level.
During my internship in Mountainwars, I worked on making immersive input for an elaborate top down combat game. I also learned to work with IK animations, improving my general combat game feeling.
