Owl has been Blues Dancing since 2011 in Norfolk, VA. Their favorite style is Micro Blues, the silky smooth movements and connection shared just between dancers without letting spectators in. They've taught East Coast Swing in Blacksburg, VA and have taken Argentine Tango as well as entry level courses in a handful of Latin styles. Owl mostly focuses on Blues Dancing now and loves teaching and focuses on connections between the Dancer and the music, themselves, and their partner.
Outside of dancing you can find Owl racing sailboats out of Hampton! They’ve been doing that for over a decade and it is one of their few loves. Mention public transit and you’ll discover the next love (obsession). Owl is a Transit Planner by trade and got into the field coincidentally from a planner that used to be a part of the Hampton Roads dance scene.
They’ve backpacked just under 2,000 miles during their childhood with the Boy Scouts and spent hundreds of hours camping in the backwoods of Virginia, North Carolina, and West Virginia. When the weather is nice they still get out and hike and camp with their friends.
For six years, Owl filled various director roles at Summer Camps in Virginia and Pennsylvania. Their favorite role was the Aquatic Director at a Summer Camp in Williamsburg. They reinvigorated what was just canoeing into a watersports program that sent kids around the state engaging in high adventure experiences that they’ll never forget.
