About Us
We are a Blues dancing community located in Norfolk, VA. We organize and provide dance lessons, social dances, group discussions, community events, and more for the preservation and continued the legacy of the Black American artform,
Blues Dancing.
Music
During our socials we play a wide variety of Blues dancing music - everything from jazzy Ballroomin' Blues to hip-shakin' Jukin' Blues! We explore the "roots" of blues and the many "fruits" that continue and evolve the legacy of Blues.
"Blues are the roots, the other musics are the fruits."
~ Willie Dixon
Donation-based, volunteer-run
We believe that dance and community should be as accessible as possible. We operate through donations, generally between $5-15/person. There are many ways to contribute including providing water, snacks, or other volunteer roles--ask an organizer for creative ways to give back to your local blues dance scene!
*For the community, by the community!*
