To facilitate scientific discussion, idea exchange and collaboration between academic and industry scientists engaged in peptide and oligonucleotide research and development.
Each TIDEtalks event is attended by 50+ guests from the industry or academia, and at various stages of their career. Attendees learn cutting-edge technologies in the peptide and oligonucleotide fields, and take opportunities to connect with other professionals (e.g. scientists, executive directors, business development personnel, etc.) through networking sessions. In addition, we help job seekers share their resumes with potential employers during the event.
TIDEtalks was started by Drs. Yvonne Angell and Wendy Hartsock. In 2012, Cambridge PEPtalks quarterly scientific seminar series was started by a group of scientists as a way to bring together the local Boston/Cambridge scientific community focused on peptide science and peptide therapeutics development. Scientists at Merck, Ironwood, Ra Pharma and Novartis collaborated to organize and sponsor the events, and they rotated venues around Cambridge and Boston for 3-4 years. In 2015, Dr. Yvonne Angell started Bay Area PEPtalks and collaborated with local scientists to host scientific seminars at venues such as UCSF, ChemPartner, Genentech, SRI International, and Relypsa. She then expanded Bay Area PEPtalks to West Coast PEPtalks and held events at Phenomenex in Torrance, and DDE in San Diego.
Yvonne and Wendy decided to evolve PEPtalks into TIDEtalks in 2020, and organize both east and west coast events to engage a wider group of scientists in both peptide and oligonucleotide R&D. There are currently three regional TIDEtalks – East Coast, West Coast, and Midwest.
