My research interests include the development of teacher identity as one component of professional identity among graduate students, analyzing undergraduate mathematical understandings needed for success in STEM major coursework, and using social network theory to explore the impact of mathematical and teaching communities of practice on teaching practice for graduate students and preservice secondary teachers.
I am an assistant professor at Clemson University in the Engineering and Science Education Department. I grew up in a rural Minnesota farming community, and I am a proud first-generation college student and queer mathematics educator. I love to travel and cook. My research examines issues of equity and identity for marginalized groups in undergraduate mathematics. My bucket list goal is to visit every national park in the United States.
