Course is in very good condition. Greens were just aerated but still run true. Some very challenging holes. Fairways off tee are open, though your approach shots have to be on point with the bunker placement and elevated greens. Would recommend for any level golfer.

Pro staf were very helpful and friendly as were clubhouse staff. Will visit again.

The first land release in Thurgoona was St Johns Hill in 1978, followed by St Jones Green in 1980, Corrys Wood in 1981, St Hilaire in 1985 and Thurgoona Park in 1986. The 1980s were a time of massive growth and development in Thurgoona. Thurgoona Drive and Elizabeth Mitchell Drive were completed by 1982, connecting Thurgoona to Albury via the Hume and Riverina Highways. Soon after the Thurgoona Golf Club opened its first 9 holes in 1983, followed by a further 9 holes in 1985. In 1986 the Albury-Wodonga Corporation moved its headquarters to Thurgoona. By 1989, a hotel had opened at the golf course, a new shopping centre was under construction, Thurgoona Public School opened and the Thurgoona Industrial Park opened near the Albury Airport.[3]

Bordering the 18th fairway are 26 resort suites and newly renovated 3-bedroom apartments. A newly renovated Thurgoona Country Club Resort clubhouse is just a stroll away. Play, Stay and Wine packages are available.

Playing Thurgoona you immediately realise that it is an extremely well designed golf course. The large slightly undulating greens are a feature here. As well as the strategically designed fairways. Water does come into play on some holes. The bunkering here is also well thought out.

There are so many great golf holes to play at Thurgoona. One of our favourites is the 367m par 4 13th hole. This tree lined fairway has a dogleg to the left so an accurate drive here is required. There are also two rather large bunkers guarding the right hand side of the green. This is a challenging hole for most of us right handed golfers who have a tendency to slice the golf ball. But the reward of playing this hole well is very satisfying.

According to Liverpool Catholic Club general manager Mr John Turnbull, the course is "in excellent condition" with the LCC already preparing to undertake a $3 million development of a new club house, scheduled to be complete in 2004.

In 1998, the LCC made headlines when it banned entry for temporary members. Previously, the club had allowed people living outside a 5 kilometre radius of its premises to become "temporary members" and enter the club for the day.

But the introduction of the bans meant only members and their guests, members of other Catholic clubs, people attending functions or people taking part in sports inside the club were allowed in. About 14,000 people a week use the club which has a membership of 30,000. 006ab0faaa
