Our daughter has been taking lessons with Angie for a few years and loves it. She has engaged with Angie in 1-1 lessons, as part of a band, and more recently by Zoom during this COVID era. Our daughter's drumming skills and knowledge of music more generally have accelerated with Angie's guidance and teaching style, and - perhaps even more important - our daughter has one more adult in her life whom we trust, and who is so, so much cooler than we are, who cares and nurtures her development in ways we can't. Angie is so great with kids. I've seen her with a variety of students and skills, patiently finding where they are starting from and going from there. She simply loves music and that spreads to kids that are lucky enough to work with her. She's an exceptional communicator, authentically positive. Kids listen to her because she listens to them first and then clearly communicates what they need to do next. I trust her completely to be one-on-one with my child or to respond in a way that builds him up and makes him love music even more.

Our daughter has taken drum lessons with Angie for years, and not only can she jam with her dad, but she's learning the foundations of music. With Angie's professional knowledge, approachable demeanor and discipline, our daughter really thrives - and looks forward to lessons and practicing.

I started taking drum lessons with Angie at an after-school program in elementary school. This was my first exposure to playing a musical instrument and I remember being so excited to play every day after school. She would bring different percussive instruments often and always made sure to keep it fun and exciting for us kids! I loved learning/playing with Angie so much that I ended up taking private lessons with her for the next 8 years and ended up going to school for it and getting my Bachelor's degree in Drum Performance!
Angie is one of the main reasons I think I fell in love with drumming and I always felt very prepared whenever I played with any band/school group. I was always one of the few drummers that could fluently read sheet music at my schools and that was 100% because of Angie! She is a very well-rounded musician and has the expertise to be able to prepare you for a wide variety of auditions/performances - from timpani technique, to marimba, to drum set, to steel drumming, etc. She also is very accommodating/invested in your success and will make sure to get in the extra lesson or two if you ever need it before an audition/performance.
I have now been teaching private lessons myself on and off for the past 3 years and still use many of Angie's methods she taught me over the years and reference notes from our lessons! I cannot recommend Angie highly enough! She is not only the main person that I would say influenced/shaped me as a drummer, but also one of the main people that I believed help shape me as a person and I am forever grateful for sharing that time/space with her once a week for those 8 very formative years! TAKE LESSONS WITH ANGIE, you won't regret it!!

I have been taking drum lessons with Angie for a year. Most recently, the lessons have been virtual due to COVID. Angie is a terrific teacher. She plans lesson content such as exercises, method books, and songs to learn that is appropriate for the student's level of music experience and interest. She explains and demonstrates rudiments and techniques in an easy way to learn. She provides excellent guidance to me in all things related to playing drums in all music genres. Highly recommended!

My daughter has played drums with Angie for a few years; starting with a mixed generation steelpan group onto 1on1 lessons with the full kit. Angie seamlessly transitioned to remote lessons and Sage has adapted and continues to thrive in the medium. Although... we'd love to see her smiling face again! Angie has great energy and love for the art.

I so wish I had met Angie years ago!!! Because of her, my lifelong dream of learning to play the drums is finally coming true. She is incredibly patient, always encouraging, and adept at crafting her teaching to meet my particular goals and progress. I love that she mixes the rudiments and music theory with allowing me to choose my favorite songs to learn and play. Best of all--she makes the process FUN. The virtual lessons are working really well, although I do look forward to the day when we can meet in person again. She is quite simply THE BEST!!!

Angie is my dream-come-true drumming teacher! First, she is such a warm, friendly, gracious and engaging person. Plus, she has a great sense of humor that satisfies my need for 'wacky' and keeps it fun! She not only demonstrates that she is a highly skilled and experienced professional drummer, but is also adept at incorporating a well organized teaching strategy derived from her ongoing study of formal instructional methodology, and is able to consistently and artfully employ those techniques in her work with me. We have been focusing on jazz technique, but have also been working steadily on other genres of my fancy - funk and blues in particular - that, of course, the jazz studies greatly augment!
Angie always encourages and supports my efforts, and freely compliments me on my improvement, which never fails to fuel my enthusiasm! And I must say, I cherish the warm friendship that we share as a result of our work together. I plan to continue my lessons with Angie until "my wheels fall off"! Thanks mucho, Angie!

Angie is awesome, and an incredible educator. I've been a musician basically my whole life (30+yrs), guitar and bass being my instruments. Some years ago I decided to add the drum kit to my repetiore and taught myself as well as I could. Then I met Angie and started lessons. Even though I haven't been able to take nearly as many as I'd like, Angie 's instruction has helped me skill up exponentially, I'm a much better drummer then I was a year ago and I practice what she taught me every time I hit the practice pad or kit.

My son has taken drum lessons with Angie for over two years. He loves taking lessons with Angie. He started when he turned 11 and is still going strong now that he is 13. She is an excellent teacher and has provided him wonderful encouragement. She has made it fun and worthwhile for him. Angie works well with young people and I am grateful that she teaches my son drumming. He is having fun while learning a skill that will last a lifetime.

Angie is a great teacher. She is energetic, organized, and good at giving simple explanations to teach concepts. She is adaptable when needed to help support students. I highly recommend her.

Angie is not only a great musician but also a truly wonderful teacher. My son has taken drumming lessons with Angie for a couple years and really enjoys his time with her. Angie has an in-depth knowledge of music and presents her lessons in such an approachable, easy-to-understand way. She is positive, encouraging, light-hearted and fun. But she is also extremely professional and committed to her craft. I can't recommend Angie highly enough. She's the best!

Who knew an old grey-hair like me could learn enough to already play in a group and with a community band (which she "encouraged" me into--I wouldn't have had the courage on my own!)? I've been taking jazz drumming lessons with Angie for almost three years, now, and I can't recommend her highly enough! She's very organized, very clear in her instructions and explanations, and VERY able to spot areas in my technique that need strengthening and extra practice. With an uncanny sense of timing, she has helped me appreciate the subtle differences in jazz rhythms. She also has an extensive collection of teaching materials that she is happy to share. I've learned an enormous amount, not only about jazz drumming technique, but also but also about the world of jazz and its musicians. She's patient, and always finds a way to help me around difficult hurdles. I hope to continue lessons with her for a long time to come!

Angie is a patient, caring and fun loving person, and these qualities translate into her teaching. She is talented and encourages everyone to achieve their best and find their strengths. I do not hesitate to recommend Angie as a teacher to anyone of any age. Her knowledge of music goes deep, and she shares that with enthusiasm. I have been taking one on one lessons with Angie for a few years and they are amazing! The lessons have greatly improved my playing and knowledge of music. Angie is a very fun, and mellow music teacher. Her lessons are engaging and are a great environment, whether you have been playing percussion for a few days, or a few years.

I took private lessons and group lessons from Angie, and I can't say enough about her patience and professionalism. She is creative and sooo very patient with older adult learners. Her methods and approach to teaching clearly are gained from a depth of experience. She loves her instrument and has much passion for it as well as making music with others no matter what your level. She is flexible with schedules, and is forgiving when you can't practice :-) . I felt so fortunate to find her right in my own community. What fun I had and will plan to have in the near future when I step back to my lessons.

My son started drum lessons with Angie when he was about six years old and had weekly one-on-one lessons with her for about three years. He loved working with Angie, he looked forward to his lesson every week, and he learned a lot about rhythm, musicianship, and the joy of making music. The only reason that we stopped the lessons was that Angie moved away from our area (southern California) to Washington. My son is now 14, he has shifted his focus to the alto saxophone, but the things he learned from Angie are still serving him well. Angie is wonderful with young kids, and I'm sure that as a teenager, my son would still respond to her kind, caring attitude and solid musical knowledge. I can't recommend her enough as a drum teacher for young people. (I'm sure she's great with adults, too!)

My daughter took Steel Pan and percussion from Angie at the Centrum Explorations Camp two years in a row. Angie is a consistent, fun, mellow and very talented teacher. Somehow she takes groups of 10 kids with zero Steel Pan or percussion experience and turns them into a band in less than 10 hours of camp lessons. Angie's approach with youth is encouraging and extremely respectful as artist-faculty at Centrum. My daughter immediately took a shine to being treated as a capable musician right out of the gates. I even got the chance to pick up the sticks a few times and learned from Angie too!
We're sad that my girl is too old for that camp anymore, but would highly recommend Angie for lessons to anyone, adult or youth and will seek out her instruction if drumming is something my daughter chooses to pursue in the future.
