MAP Testing
Guidance for Teachers
MAP testing doesn't need to be stressful and with a good plan in place, you'll feel more prepared and ready to go.
Here are some helpful tips:
Make sure all student Chromebooks are charged, able to connect to the Internet, and the screens are set to full screen.
Watch the helpful videos about setting up your students to test, what to do if a student has issues logging in or their screen freezes, and how to do makeup tests
Reach out to Jessica Peresta at jperesta@thehillschool.com if you need support or something isn't working right
Remind students of your expectations and how there is to be no talking or asking for help with the answers
Show students how to login, use their mouse, where to click on the screen, and what arrow to push to go to the next arrow
When students are finished testing, instruct them on what they are supposed to do and that they need to stay quiet
Student Support
For your students, it's important to prepare them ahead of time as much as you can.
Here are some helpful tips:
Allow students time to practice using their Chromebooks
Do practice MAP assessments a week before the testing dates
Remind parents that it's important for their child to get a good night's sleep and to be on time to school for testing dates
Encourage your students to try their best and remind them that there will be an after testing reward
Talk to students about how every student is different and will move at different speeds while taking their test
Also let students know not to rush or to just click on random answers, but to think through what they're selecting
