Sofas of different sizes require different amounts of cushions for maximum comfort, functionality and style. Now that you know how many pillows to use on sofas of different sizes, you can create the best space for you.
A smaller or shorter two-seat sofa can accommodate two to three pillows to give enough room for comfortable seating. Most interior designers recommend using no more than three pillows in each corner, for a total of six pillows. For the section, add three more pillows to the center corner, or up to nine pillows.
Use the largest size to secure the ends and fold the smaller pillows in front. Include small rectangular pillows made from a different fabric but matching the color scheme of your room.
Depending on the size of your furniture or your style, an even number of pillows may look best. The right amount of pillows for your sofa or bed is entirely determined by the size of the furniture, its purpose, and even the organization of the room it's in.
Another rule of thumb to help you determine the number of pillows that will look good and work best with your sofa is to use only odd numbers. For example, a sofa that is 9 feet long minus one yields 8 pillows, so you would use the nearest odd number instead, which is seven.
Five pillows can be a great way to spruce up a three seater sofa by following the odd number rule. After making sure you have all three corners, you can also consider filling in the gaps with one or two pillows, making sure the number of pillows doesn't exceed the length of the sofa.
For a decorative and professional look, make sure you have at least one pillow in every corner of your sofa. We recommend that you consider the depth of your sofa when determining the size of the cushions you use for your sofa. For a smaller sofa, such as a 2-seater, put in the effort as if you were painting a full-size sofa, just be sure to resize the cushion accordingly.
The standard size for a two-seat seat is about 70 inches wide, so for one part of this scale, look for two 20-inch cushions and two 18-inch cushions, one of each size at each end. Three-seater sofas and large sofas 101-120 inches wide should use two 20" x 20" square cushions and two 16" x 16" square cushions located at each end of the sofa, with a 12" x 20" lumbar cushion. x 20 inches located in the center of the sofa. Adding more than one pillow to a sofa or chair can make it difficult to sit down and make the sofa look messy.
In some cases, there may not be too many pillows on the bed, but there may be too many pillows for the room, creating a messy look. If you're a pillow lover, this might be the perfect accommodation for you - just enough to make a visual impact and enhance the style of the room, but not so much that it becomes an inconvenience.
