Things I have learned along the way
“Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans,” is in a John Lennon song he wrote to his son. When you are up and coming, do not count on everything going the way you want them to go. When they do, be happy and appreciative that they did. When they do not, work through your disappointment by reviewing your moves and if your goal is still valued, reconstruct your approach and if necessary, adjust your vision of the result.
Do not believe the hyperbole that life is supposed to be fair…it is not. One should try to keep an optimistic attitude by believing that the things that are planned for and worked for will usually turn out well, but never bet the farm on it.
Do not expect everyone to respect you or even like you. Make the goal of your efforts to be the type of person you want to respect and like and be who you are.
“Know when to hold ‘em and know when to fold ‘em.” There will be times when you should just slow down or stop to ask yourself if your goal is really worth the effort. Do not disillusion yourself or make excuses. Either it is, or it is not, worth the challenge.
Not everything is as it first seems. Most things arrive from underlying or pre-existing causes. You should always try to consider that there could be a “butterfly effect” to the circumstance you have run into.
We should never plan to fail but we can fail to plan. We sometimes “don’t know what we don’t know.” Failure is always an option, in spite of the movie cliché. If it fails, then determine if another attempt is worth the effort. Remember, some things were never meant to be. Few people succeed on their first attempt. We should look at a failure more as a trial and a learning experience.
Do not accept the monkeys that are not yours. Learn to recognize the difference in the things to which you are responsible and the things that rightfully belong to others. Do not go home worrying about the screeching monkeys that belong to someone else. You cannot do or manage everything. Have others take their rightful place of responsibility.
People live in different time zones but not in different time dimensions. Every person that lives on this planet get 24 hours to a day. It is how you use your 24 hours that makes you different from others. To “waste” time is usually a matter of opinion.
When one has the right perspective, competition is good. It is human nature as a social animal to be equal or better than someone else. But remember, in every race there has to be someone who is first, and someone has to be last, and there is almost always another race.
Many companies these days put their emphasis in advertising instead of their most valuable resource, their employees. Instead of investing in training and performance rewards for the people, it seems that business leaders would rather display a fantasy of their business through an advertising campaign in hopes that customers will believe their artificial image instead of the reality.
Religion came about so primitive man could explain what he could not see or understand. The Middle-Eastern religions of ancient times invented a mindset of a higher power they believed controlled the people and their surroundings. From the days of the Pharaoh, this belief has become the biggest hoax ever perpetrated on mankind. In spite of our modern knowledge in science, there are still many people who insist on believing that there is a power or god that is “up there” somewhere that “knows everything.”
I literally HATE the term, "law enforcement." I hate the term "homeland security." They both even sound fascist.
This country doesn't need people to enforce laws like everyone is a law breaker. Similar to Christians believing every one is a born sinner. It's just not right.
The money is fixed by the banksters. Look at this:
As long as the Federal Reserve keeps interest rates unreasonably low the American people will continue to suffer. Interest rates should be higher, at least in the 8-10% range. That way the average person can literally "bank" their money in the institute of their choice and get a guarantee of sorts and can keep up with inflation. The way it is now, the system is rigged to "make" people buy into stocks and bonds to live a life of risk and gambling.
Civic ignorance? Yes, and I think I can justify it, no, I mean, make excuses for it.
The Reagan Republicans promoted American exceptionalism when the country was still crying over Nixon’s embarrassment and an embassy attack. They did not care that a sitting President was actually getting some peace in the Middle East or that oil was starting to cause inflation in our economic system.
Ol’ St. Ronnie had people convinced that by giving in to the rich meant that they would turn around and embellish the peons with lavish riches also. The people have waited 50 years and it has yet to happen. Even Gen X have started to notice.
It’s very difficult for some people to understand why somebody who is a who lot dumber than they are has a job doing what they do. You just have to accept it.
Calling oneself as a Democrat or Republican is almost the same as choosing to be a Catholic or a Protestant. One might get to choose their priest or pope to help them feel like they have some input in matters but they really don't.
