2024-2025
After exhibiting a love and passion for WTHS and the leadership role I held my junior year, I applied to be the Co-Executive Producer my senior year. I am honored to have been entrusted with such an important position. Each day as Co-Executive Producer, I get the joy to welcome and admire each WTHS Staff Member. Getting to mentor, and show my love and support to my classmates is what matters the most. I make sure to promote encouraging and uplifting behavior in order to create a successful and positive atmosphere. I believe that everyone has a their unique spotlight, they just have to find it. My duties include proofing every show, leading team brainstorm meetings, and making sure everyone understands their task for the week. I am also one of the main editors for WTHS Media.
January 2024 WTHS Media traveled to Jackson, Mississippi to attend the Inauguration of Governor Tate Reeves. Alongside covering the Inauguration, we partnered with St. Joseph Catholic School's, Bruin News Now to produce a joint newscast covering this special event. This incredible experience taught me and my fellow classmates what it is like to be a professional journalist. Getting to witness what all happens in the Mississippi State Capitol was truly a once in a life time experience at my age. From getting interviews with Senators and House of Representatives, getting b-roll of the Inauguration, and attending the Governor's Ball, this was definitely an experience I will never forget.
Welcome to Philly!
Journalism Association Education Conference 2024
Thanks to a generous donation by Mr. Guy Hornbuckle, several WTHS members attended the Journalism Association Education Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania this past November. This event was the first time WTHS competed at a national conference. The conference allowed me to network with other aspiring journalists. I attended workshops to learn about the world of journalism. Also, I competed in the onsite Broadcast Anchor contest. We visited the Betty Ross House, the Liberty Bell, and the Philadelphia Zoo. This trip was truly unforgettable. I am so fortunate to be afforded these opportunities as a student at THS. I am so proud to be a part of WTHS Media!
Quill & Scroll Chapter President
I joined Quill & Scroll National Journalism Honor Society as a sophomore. I enjoyed being apart of the friendly atmosphere and loved the focus of the organization. This year, I was honored to be elected as the President of this prestigious club. We hold weekly meetings where we discuss upcoming events and fundraising opportunities for the chapter.
Northeast Mississippi Youth Foundation
Board Member (2023-2024)
This past summer I applied to be apart of the Northeast Mississippi Youth Foundation to help grow my skills in leadership and communication. NEMYF was established in 2001 to involve young people in community development. NEMYF consists of around 70 11th & 12th graders from 17 counties of Northeast Mississippi. NEMYF allows students to make a difference, be philanthropists, meet other teenagers, learn more about northeast Mississippi, develop leadership skills, lead fundraising, and award grants.
My Wonderful Fellow WTHS Staff Members
WTHS has taught me so much about teamwork and leadership. Our weekly broadcasts would not be possible without the help from each and every student involved. Seasoned students mentor newer students which fosters creativity. The classroom dynamic in my broadcast journalism class is absolutely amazing and unlike any other group I have ever been a part of at Tupelo High School.
