I'm a teacher and researcher working in the areas of comparative ethics, philosophy of religion, and Wittgenstein studies. At CUHK-Shenzhen, I teach courses in philosophy, religious studies and the humanities.
I have written two books, Rethinking Philosophy of Religion with Wittgenstein: Religious Diversities and Racism (Bloomsbury, 2025) and Wittgenstein within the Philosophy of Religion (Palgrave Macmillan, 2014), and various chapters and articles on Wittgenstein, ethics, philosophy of religion, and comparative philosophy. With Anne Blackburn, I prepared for publication John Clayton’s posthumous book Religions, Reasons, and Gods: Essays in Cross-Cultural Philosophy of Religion (Cambridge University Press, 2006).
When permitted by publishers, I've posted papers here under research or on my profiles at PhilPeople and ResearchGate.
Occasionally, I post on Bluesky and Mastodon (@thomasdcarroll), and from time to time, I also write short informal pieces on my blog.
