Screaming Inline Four's
Honda and The Power of Dreams
From the B16A to the final K20 motors, Honda will be fondly remembered for inline 4's that defined the sound of a generation. From 1990-2007, the VTEC valve-train set the standard for normally aspirated performance from 4 cylinders, and their unmistakable sound still echoes across racetracks and fluorescent lit streets around the world. The table below seeks to capture all of these cars into a single comparable image. Apologies for the mistake which reads EK4, which should be EK9.
A dream engine and chassis combination for me would be a championship white EG6/EK9/DC2 chassis with a rear roll cage welded in, and a K20A engine with a 89mm crankshaft for a 2.2L displacement and a DC5 gear-set with a UDSM 6 speed overdrive. That would make for a simple, ultimate front wheel drive car.
