Ferrari F131 Maintenance Schedule
Ferrari F131 Maintenance Schedule
Regular Checks (Every Drive):
Coolant and Oil Level: Manually check after each drive.
Regular Driving: Helps maintain engine health and prevents component wear.
Ensure Fresh Fuel: Use the highest octane to prevent detonation due to deterioration.
Annually:
Hydraulic Lifter Check: Use a stethoscope to listen for ticking at idle.
Head Gasket Inspection: Spray carburetor cleaner at the intake bases; replace gaskets if idle changes.
Fuel, Oil, and Coolant Lines: Inspect for chafing, mechanical rubbing, collapsing, or degrading under heat.
Fuel Pump Filter: Change annually.
Oil Sump Filter: Replace every 1-2 years.
Oil Changes and Oil Leak Inspection: Change 5W40 oil and filter annually. The workshop manual incorrectly specifies a tightening torque of 75nm for the drain plugs, which can damage the sump/gearbox threads. Tighten the drain plugs by hand and then add a ¼ turn.
Oil Pump Gear: Inspect for bevel gear damage and check rubber O-rings.
Oil Fittings: Replace if cracked due to vibration.
Cooling System Leak Inspection: Check for leaks, thermostat failure, and radiator clogging.
Oil Pump Chain Tensioner: Ensure it does not walk laterally on the mount.
Tensioner Bushings: Inspect and replace if hardened.
Intake Manifold Butterfly Screw Inspection: Check and secure screws.
Crank Seal and Oil Sump Seal Inspection: Inspect and replace with OEM parts if leaking.
Transmission Heat Exchanger: Check for corrosion and failure.
Paper Gaskets: Inspect for holes and replace if needed.
Injector O-rings: Inspect for cracks and replace if needed.
Starter Motors: Check for stickiness and fix as needed.
Catalytic Converters Protection: Ensure AFR protection is working unless no cats are installed.
Muffler: Inspect pneumatic actuating system and valves.
Belt Check: Inspect all belts for cracks tears and tension.
Every 2 Years or 24,000 km:
Chain Tensioners: Replace.
Primary (Wideband LSU4.2) O2 Sensors: Replace to maintain engine performance.
Every 3 Years or 36,000 km:
Chain Tensioners: Replace.
Spark Plugs: Change.
Fuel Injectors & Fuel Pressure: Test injectors for spray pattern and blockages.
Oil Analysis: Send oil for analysis by an external party.
Inspect Bolt/Pin: Near the chain tensioner for potential failure affecting the oil pump.
Monitor Thermostat (ref. 183758): Check for occasional failure.
Every 5 Years:
Battery Condition: Replace battery.
Coil Packs and Spark Plugs: Replace coil packs and change spark plugs.
Camshaft Timing: Recalibrate camshafts and set belt tension.
Cambelt Replacement: Replace cambelt and consider variators.
After 10 years or 100,000km
Catalytic Converters: Replace.
