"Why TGTA Matters"

The Challenge & Our Response

We live in an era of rapid environmental change. Biodiversity loss, climate challenges, and unsustainable consumption require more than theoretical knowledge—they demand hands-on understanding and active solutions.

TGTA (Think in Green and Take Action) transforms environmental education by bringing students out of the classroom and directly into living ecosystems. Guided by the core ethics of Permaculture (Earth Care, People Care, and Fair Share) our project equips young people to observe natural patterns, evaluate human impact, and design sustainable alternatives for their communities.

What We Aim to Achieve

1. Ecological Literacy & Hands-On Fieldwork

Moving from textbook ecology to real-world observation. Students study biodiversity and human impact directly across contrasting habitats—from coastal ecosystems to mountain forests.

In Action: Field cleanup missions, ecosystem comparisons, and student-produced Nature Documentaries created during our mobility in Bursa, Turkey.
Key Outcome: A co-created Green Behavior Code for sea, mountain, and forest environments.

2. Permaculture as a Design Tool

Applying permaculture principles (such as "Observe & Interact" or "Produce No Waste") to understand how natural systems self-regulate and how human communities can replicate these harmonious designs.

In Action: Hands-on teacher training at the Belentepe Permaculture Farm in Turkey, led by sustainability experts.
Key Outcome: An e-Book on Permaculture for Educators designed as an open educational resource for schools.

3. Greener Educational Communities

Empowering educators with field-tested methodologies and creating living, long-lasting green spaces within schools to ensure impact far beyond the project's lifespan.

In Action: Designing and building real School Permaculture Gardens in North Macedonia, Spain, and Turkey using composting and water harvesting.
Key Outcome: Sustainable, self-sufficient school environments and reusable teaching toolkits.

4. Cross-Border Youth Collaboration

Fostering intercultural teamwork through international mobilities and digital twin-classrooms, enabling European students (aged 12–16) to share perspectives, analyze local ecological challenges, and co-create solutions together.

In Action: Joint activities through eTwinning, collaborative workshops, and cultural exchanges connecting rural and urban realities (like Montefrío in Spain).
Key Outcome: An inclusive European youth network acting together for climate mitigation.
