My eyes shot open, wide and alert. It's a property of [Detection] that allows me to automatically react to unseen threat, enhanced by my [Sixth Sense]. Since I can be attack at any given moment, I figured that this will probably increased my survival chance for a little bit and hadn't bothered deactivating it
When you have been living in the wild for some time, this kind of things happened naturally to you. All you could think about is survival, never becoming too comfortable with your surrounding. After all, what comfort are there in being dead?
Though I assumed that isn't as cool as I'd like it to sound, seeing "death" could still be the "final comfort" for the souls of people in pain form the constraint of their physical body. Perhaps suffering is to instill in us the value of "peace" after all
I laid as still as I could, ears twitching in concentration as I tried to have a sense of my enemy. It won't help me much, but something is usually better than nothing
There they are, outside of the cave, only two, both are Grimm
My eyes narrowed as I sensed something odd
They are standing still. Yes, the pair of Grimm are tanding still they should have been moving around aimlessly like other Grimms would. If I were to show myself now, there's a high chance that they will attack me, yet I have a feeling that's not what they're here for
It's almost like they are hesitating... No, they are waiting for something. Could it be possible that they have sensed me too? If so why haven't they attacked me? I wondered what their intention are
Several thoughts and hypotheticals ran through my head, but I discarded those since they aren't suitable enough. In the end I came to a conclusion
'Well, there's only one way to find out'
I pushed the ground beneath me and groggily stood up. The echos of my footsteps rang in the silent space as I walked toward the cave's entrance. Just lying there won't solve anything, beside, since my guests have been waiting, it'd be rude of me not to welcome them properly
As I walked outside, the first thing I noticed is that it's still nighttime. The cool breeze gently brushed through my hair as I stood at the cave's mouth. The stars are shining bright above the sky, under the starlit night I could make out two silhouettes as I got nearer
In front of me stood two small Grimm of the same size as me. We observed each other silently, neither of us making a move. I used this chance to observed them, under the effect of [Night Vision] I could make out their wolf-like features. It seems they're the same species as me
Unlike me however, they were thin and frail with their ribcage protruding out from their chest, it honestly looks like even the slightest of push could topple them over. It was a clear indicator that they haven't eaten anything for days
My thought process suddenly come to a halt
Wait, they what?
I took a look at them again
I thought Grimm doesn't need to eat, but apparently that's not the case judging from the look of these two. The gear in my mind moved at inhuman speed as I contemplated what this could mean
Hmm... This is unsettling. If I remember correctly the previous Beowolf I'd hunt also have the same figure, at that time I'd thought it was just my eyes fooling me, but now I'm not so sure. Perhaps the creature have gone mad with hunger and indiscriminately attacked it's kin?
That doesn't matter, What matters right now is the two Grimm standing there. I could either kill them and consume their abilities if there are some, or I could be a generous host and let them stay for the night.
The former sounds tempting enough, but I don't want to shed unnecessary blood. Let's see if this will come biting me in the ass or not
Making my decision, I turned around and motioned for them to come inside. The others hesitated for a moment before following in, they both know they don't have a choice

Apparently I forgot my difference between the others and me. I can find my way across the cave with ease because of [Night Vision], but that's not the case with these Grimm since they didn't have my ability. I must admit that watching them stumbling around in the darkness is quite amusing
I gestured for them to sit down, to which they complied without resistance. It's too late for them to back out now. I could feel their gazes on me as I dug my hand into a hole in the wall, before pulling out a spider's leg
The cold weather here proved convenient for storage purposes. I used [Acid Spit] to dig a hole in the wall before stuffing food in it, sealing the thing with a flat rock and you've got yourself a primitive refrigerator. The stuff inside are mainly cold meat and some fruit I've picked up, not very diverse I know
I threw them the appendage. It was consumed mere moments after it touched the ground. No, I'm serious, these two snapped them in half and swallowed them whole without even chewing
I sweatdropped as they turned their head to my direction with expectant gazes
"Um... There's more of them if you like it"
A few minutes later the Grimm finished eating. Although they cost me half of my available food, the two Grimms were now looking better and less likely to die. The lights in their eyes shone just a little brighter, their stomach just a little bit fuller, and their face a little less paler
Now that I've helped them, their next action will determined what I'll do. If they turned out to be turncoats I won't hesitate to kill them
The pair stood up and walked up to me. I secretly extended my claws, preparing for the worst case scenario. What they do next shocked me
They bowed their head in a gesture of submission. A notification then popped up in front of me
Murdoch and Alistair has acknowledged you as the Alpha!

Author's Note: Well, that's it for today. Maybe I'm going to work on Ice Cold next (You know, the one that none of my reader gives a shit about), it's been a long time since I touched it
