"Stat" I muttered into the darkness of my cave
Nothing happens
"Status" I tried again, my finger tapping on the floor impatiently
Still nothing
"Statistic" Not feeling dispirited, I continued
Ping!
The signature sound of the notification window popping open put a smile on my face
Yes, finally!
Let's see what kind of stat I have. I began to gingerly scroll through the various lines of text in front of me
Statistics
Name: ???
Specie: Grimm (Lesser Beowolf)
Level: 3/10
Title: None
I blinked, a sense of confusion took over me at the sight of the cryptic and short message I find
Wait, that's it?
It didn't even show my stats, and what does the '/10' in my level means? Is this the extent of my [Gamer] ability?
Will the system evolve as I level up. Or will it stay the same way?
I am in desperate need of a tutorial for this. Having to learn everything by yourself is exhausting and frustrating. Too much brainpower required, too little results acquired
Idly, I remembered a game I used to play before coming here with the same confusing mechanic. It's an amazing sandbox title that managed to impress me with it's intricate, yet so simple concept of using cubes and pixelated items as the base creation for everything they build
It's called "Minecraft", I think. The first time I played the game it was pretty confusing trying to figure out how everything works on your own
I leaned back and let out a frustrated sigh. The showing of my stats just now had left me with a crap ton of questions that I don't have an answer for and that deeply annoyed me, I just want to hunt something right now to relieve my muscle
The heavy rain outside denied me of that satisfaction
Having cleared out the dungeon yesterday (which I, unfortunately, have let my prey escaped), I was left with nothing else to do but to test out my power, a thing which I haven't done since my reincarnation. Sure I may have a gist of what they are but it wouldn't hurt to try, I don't have anything to do anyway.
The first thing was [Inventory]. I don't have one at the moment. The system promised me I'll get that skill when I level up later. How troublesome
Next. [Skills]. I have a list of them in the form of a long vertical window. At the present there's only several of them listed on it. The codex would most likely expand as I eat more prey obviously
And finally is the [Statistic] option. I'm currently at level 3, which will soon capped off at level 10. It's either the final limit for leveling up, or a threshold for something greater. An evolution maybe?
Ha, I am a Pokemon! Or a Pokegrimm, maybe
Oh, wow, somebody needs to write this down. A RWBY Alternate Universe where people tame wild Grimm with their Pokeballs and let them battle against each other. The premise is awesome if i were to say so myself, but the execution may need some polishing
But can Pokegrimm really evolve like their anime counterpa
Hmm. Don't care. I'll know when the time come.
But for Now, I would like to go over my skills first and test them, one by one, to see if I can make sense of this
First off is [Sharper Claw] and [Sharper Fang]
As the name suggest, my claw and fangs become sharper, therefore dealing more damage to enemies, simple stuff. To check how strong they are I slashed them at a nearby rock and guess what? It sliced through like a 1,000 degree katana would with butter, albeit with a bit of force. It's not on the same level as Wolverine, but it definitely is something.
Next, [Detection] and [Sixth Sense]
I scratched my head as I read over the names. While the former is obvious, I wondered what exactly does Sixth Sense do? Does it affect my subconscious in an Ultra Instinct sort of way where I can dodge unseen attack, or a more accurate intuition where I can predict my opponent's moves like the Uchihas or maybe both of them? I don't know and I have no way to test it, so I just leave the skill as it be
Now, to my newest abilities, the one I've learned just from yesterday. I'm just going to start with [Acid Spit], [Night Vision] and [360 Degree Vision] before moving to the others
I gathered as much spit as possible in my mouth before spitting it out, the sticky liquor soared through the air before it collided with the wall, creating a 'splat' sound. My eyes went wide with excitement as said part of the wall melted away with sizzling sounds, hot steam coming out of it
Okay, this will be a helpful way to take down enemies from a far, just imagine what will happen if I increase it's lethality by combining this with poison, the result will be overkill. I also took note of the fact that my spitting skills had improved quite a lot, since the wall must have been 5 meters in front of me, I was only intending to spit at the ground at first
I blinked as I suddenly realized that I can tell how far away the wall is despite being in complete darkness "Huh, [Night Vision] sure is useful"
This ability couple with [360 Degree Vision], I may as well be all-seeing if I can have X-ray vision
Continue on, we have [Wall Climbing], [Web Generation] and [Spider Physiology]. As I read over the names, a certain song begin to play in my mind
'Spiderman, Spiderman, do whatever a spider can'
cough, cough, back to the topic...
I stick my four limbs to the wall and slowly climbed up the stony surface, taking note of the fact that I can only do so with four limbs, before reaching the conclusion that I'll be unable to conduct wall-walking Naruto style, what a shame.
As I reached the apex of the cave, which is roughly 9 meters above the ground, I took a deep breath before dropping down. The air rushed past my face but I paid it no heed and continue to concentrate. Just as my body was about to impact with the floor I hold my right arm out and aimed it above me.
Woooosh
The white, cool substance shoot out from the tip of my claw before it connect with the ceiling and I found myself suspended mid-air, before being pulled up in a wide arc at high velocity
"Woah!" Maybe it's from surprise or fear but I accidentally let go of the newly-made web and found myself suspended before falling down again. I twisted backward on instinct and somehow landed on the ground on all four in a couched position. Miraculously, nothing happened to me even after falling from such a high place
So that's what [Spider Physiology] means, it gives me enhanced agility and reflexes that of spider. I wondered if I kill enough spiders in the dungeon, would I be able to gain their form? I added that to my mental checklist of things to find out in the future
...And that's the end of it. I just realized how little skills there are in my arsenal. Granted, it's only been a few day since I was born into this world but the faster I become strong, the better. I'm not arrogant enough to think that I can fight everything out there, considering this is the RWBY universe we're talking about
My mind flashed to a certain Grimm queen and her minions, then switched to the sly wizard and his pawns. It is hard to think that right now the world outside is undergoing a war between two forces like that
And now I'm stuck on the fence, with no powers to support myself. But at least I have the knowledge from the show to help myself
Yes, in this world all I have is the will to survive and the conviction to carry it out, everything will be fine as long as I have them
A yawned escaped my lip, before I put a hand up to cover it
I closed my eyes, a sense of tiredness washed over me like a wave, beckoning me to take a rest. Complying, I placed my back against the wall before slowly sliding down it's hard surface, my eyelids drooping down.
It's still raining outside....
