Registered Reports (RR) are a new article format for empirical research in which the paper is reviewed and peer-approved before the data collection begins. RRs increase the quality of research by limiting the researchers’ degree of freedom and guaranteeing trustworthy results. The high replicability, lower risks of HARKing and p-hacking, and prevention of publication bias are among the benefits of RRs. PCI-RR promotes RRs by providing resources for authors and editors and free peer-reviews of preprints.
For economists who desire to undertake a RR, Romain Espinosa and I wrote A Practical Guide to Registered Reports for Economists.
Marianne Lefebvre and I also worked on the current state of Registered Reports in economics and their benefits for agricultural economics [Link].
I list below all the economic journals that accept RR in economics and a graph retracing the adoption of RRs in economics.
