生物體內的固醇類荷爾蒙參與許多重要的生理功能，包括調控代謝、免疫反應、甚至是胚胎的發育，我們其中一個研究主題即是探討生物體中的腸道微生物或是表皮微生物是如何影響宿主之固醇類荷爾蒙含量與其分子機制，並進而探討這些微生物在宿主健康或疾病中扮演的角色。

The steroidal hormones, including progestin, estrogen, androgen, and mineralocorticoids, play essential roles in regulating physiological functions, metabolism, the immune system, and even embryonic development. One of our research focuses is to explore the role of microbiota in regulating the content of steroidal hormones and the underlying molecular mechanisms. We also hope that the isolated microbes can be further developed into probiotics or live biotherapeutic products (LBPs).
