1. Who we are

theWagerLine is a registered trade name of PHLEEBSE Consulting & Finance Inc., a federally incorporated Canadian company. We operate an iGaming review website at thewagerline.com and related subdomains.

For Canadian privacy law purposes, PHLEEBSE Consulting & Finance Inc. is the organization responsible for personal information collected through theWagerLine. For EU and UK data protection law, we act as a data controller.

1.1 Privacy Officer

Under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), we’ve designated a Privacy Officer responsible for compliance with this policy and applicable privacy law.

Contact the Privacy Officer at privacy@thewagerline.com with “Privacy Officer Inquiry” in the subject line.

1.2 EU and UK representatives

theWagerLine does not currently target the EU or UK as primary markets and has not appointed an Article 27 representative. Our processing of EU and UK personal data is occasional and low-risk. If that changes, we’ll appoint a representative and update this policy. EU and UK residents can exercise their rights by emailing privacy@thewagerline.com.

2. Age requirements

theWagerLine is for adults aged 19 or older (18 in some Canadian provinces, 21 in some US states if we ever expand). We don’t knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe we’ve collected information from someone under the legal gambling age in their jurisdiction, email privacy@thewagerline.com and we’ll delete it.

3. Information we collect

3.1 Information you provide directly

We collect information you give us when you:

  • Submit our contact form

  • Sign up for our newsletter (when we launch one)

  • Create an account on our site (when we launch user accounts)

  • Email us directly

  • Participate in promotions, surveys, or contests we run

This can include name, email address, phone number, the contents of your message, and any other information you choose to provide.

3.2 Information collected automatically

When you visit theWagerLine, we and our third-party partners automatically collect technical and behavioural data including:

  • IP address and approximate geographic location

  • Browser type, version, and language

  • Device type, operating system, and screen resolution

  • Pages visited, time on page, click paths

  • Referring website and search terms

  • Mouse movements, clicks, and scroll behaviour (via session recording tools when active)

  • Interactions with forms, buttons, and other site elements

This is collected via cookies, pixels, tags, and similar technologies. See our Cookie Policy for the full list.

3.3 Information from advertising platforms

We may receive information about you from advertising platforms (Google, Microsoft, Meta, X, LinkedIn, Reddit, and others) when you interact with our ads or with theWagerLine after seeing our ads. This includes click data, conversion events, and audience segment data.

3.4 Affiliate click data

When you click a link to an operator from theWagerLine, our affiliate tracking system records the click, typically your IP address, the page you clicked from, the operator you clicked, and a timestamp. If you sign up with that operator, the affiliate platform may share a conversion notification with us that includes a partial identifier (not usually your full name or contact info, but enough for the operator to attribute the sign-up to us for commission purposes).

This is industry standard for affiliate sites. We don’t share your operator account information back with anyone. Your relationship with the operator is private between you and them.

4. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Respond to inquiries submitted via our contact form

  • Send newsletters and promotional emails (only if you’ve opted in)

  • Personalize content based on your location (which province you’re in)

  • Analyze site traffic and user behaviour to improve the site

  • Run targeted advertising on platforms like Google, Microsoft, Meta, X, LinkedIn, and Reddit

  • Track affiliate conversions for billing with operators

  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security threats

  • Comply with applicable legal and regulatory obligations

  • Protect our legal rights

5. Legal basis for processing (EU and UK)

For EU and UK residents, we process personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Contract: Processing necessary to respond to your inquiries or deliver requested services

  • Legitimate interests: Analytics, fraud prevention, business communications, and site improvement, where these don’t override your rights

  • Consent: Marketing emails, non-essential cookies, session recording, and advertising pixels

  • Legal obligation: Compliance with applicable laws and regulations

You can withdraw consent at any time. Email privacy@thewagerline.com.

6. Your privacy rights

6.1 Canadian residents

Under PIPEDA, Quebec’s Law 25, and other provincial privacy laws, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use, share, and disclose

  • Access and receive a copy of your personal information

  • Delete your personal information, subject to exceptions

  • Correct inaccurate personal information

  • Opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising

  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information

  • Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

  • Appeal a denied request, where applicable

Sale and sharing

theWagerLine does not sell personal information for monetary consideration. However, our use of third-party advertising and analytics platforms involves disclosing personal information that may count as “sharing” under California law (CCPA/CPRA) or “sale” / “targeted advertising” under other state laws.

In the preceding 12 months, we have shared identifiers (IP address, cookie IDs, device IDs), internet activity (pages viewed, interactions), approximate geolocation, and audience segment inferences with the platforms listed in Section 7 for behavioural advertising and analytics.

We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of consumers under 16 (or under 19 for Canadian residents).

To exercise these rights:

  • Use the cookie preferences toggle on any theWagerLine page

  • Click “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” in our footer

  • Enable Global Privacy Control (GPC) in your browser, and we honour it automatically

We respond to verifiable requests within 45 days, with possible extension if your request is complex.

6.3 EU residents (GDPR)

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, object to processing, data portability, and withdraw consent. You can also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

6.4 UK residents (UK GDPR)

7.8 Future tools

When we add user accounts, newsletter functionality, leaderboards, or paid features, we’ll update this section. We’ll notify subscribers when material changes happen.

8. Data retention

11. Cookies and tracking technologies

We use cookies, pixels, tags, and session recording technologies. See our Cookie Policy (generated and managed via Compliantz) for the full list, what each does, and how to manage your preferences.

You can manage cookie consent at any time by clicking the cookie preferences link in our footer.

12. Marketing communications

When we send newsletters or promotional emails, every message includes an unsubscribe link. You can also opt out by emailing privacy@thewagerline.com.

We currently don’t send marketing emails. When that changes, we’ll only send to people who explicitly opt in.

13. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our practices change or when laws change. Updates are posted here with a new “Last Updated” date. For material changes, we’ll try to notify affected individuals (e.g. newsletter subscribers) before changes take effect.

14. How to exercise your rights or raise a concern

Email privacy@thewagerline.com with “Privacy Request” in the subject line. Include:

  • What you’re requesting (access, correction, deletion, opt-out, etc.)

  • Enough information for us to identify your data (email used, any account info, approximate dates)

We respond to all privacy requests within 30 days (Canada and US) or one calendar month (EU and UK). If your request is complex, we’ll let you know within the initial period and explain why we need more time.

15. Limitations

This policy describes our current practices. We try to keep it accurate. We will sometimes make mistakes: leave a third-party tool off the list, miss an update, get a retention period slightly wrong. If you spot something, tell us.

This policy doesn’t override Canadian privacy law. Where this policy is less protective than applicable law, the law applies.
