The Thirsty Gamer has been building gaming PCs now for quite some time, now we aim to share with you those expertise and hopefully give you the tools needed to build your very own custom gaming PC that wont disappoint! We have several full guides at our main website TheThirstyGamer but here are some excerpts from the latest builds we have done:
Yes you saw that right! The Thirsty Gamer has been asked by fans if it’s possible to build a gaming PC for under $500. Now this isn’t really our area of expertise seeing as we’re used to dealing with more high end hardware, but we decided to answer this question anyway.
Firstly there are some ground rules! You can easily build a regular desktop for under $500, but to have some integrity there has to be a line somewhere! We define this line as a computer that is capable of running and outputting some great games, at a reasonable frame rate and quality.
Now although this build is quite cheap, it’s surprisingly good for the money you pay! We sourced all our products online and did a bit of looking around to find the best deals, eventually we created this build which costs $550, although prices do vary from day to day this gaming PC really could be cheaper or more expensive, check the products below which are set to auto update prices then compare against the prices we saw when creating this cheap gaming PC.
So firstly, you will typically get a better deal on any computer if you build it, essentially knocking out the middle man from the deal, not to mention it is a lot of fun for those interested in electronics and we would highly recommend it to anyone who thinks they would be interested. However we do suggest only starting a gaming PC build if you will stick with it to the end!
Fortunately, building a PC really isn’t that difficult to do but once again, only start if you are sure you will follow through with the build. Alternatively you can view our store section where there are a great selection of gaming PCs and laptops that are pre built.
This $500 gaming PC build guide comes with an Intel Core i3-10100 quad-core (eight-thread) processor, a GTX 1650 graphics card, 8GB of DDR4 memory, and finally a 480GB SSD from ADATA. This group of products together will allow you to play most games on high settings with no problems. Even more this gaming PC was tested with games like Fortnite on max settings and not only was it good, it gave incredible performance which we refer to later in this guide, for other more demanding games, this gaming PC will give around 60-90 FPS depending on the game of course.
This build really is the perfect cheap gaming PC for gamers who don’t have a lot of money to spend, but want a great entry-level PC gaming computer that will allow them to play their favorite games. This build also makes a great gift, possibly a better gift than a gaming console.
As with all of our builds we always consider “future upgrades” as an option, meaning that at some stage in the future you may want to upgrade a specific part, this build is no different. With a 600W power supply, which technically should be powerful enough to allow you to upgrade to a higher-end GPU in the future should you choose to upgrade.
Basically if you want a gaming PC without paying the big bucks then this is the right “cheap gaming PC” for you. Check out the parts, prices and descriptions at our main website TheThirstyGamer.
