Using Edpuzzle as an Online Resource 

​​Edpuzzle is a free, interactive video tool that lets teachers embed questions and prompts directly into videos, transforming them into active learning experiences. In Media Arts, it’s an effective way to analyze film techniques, explore social issues, and encourage critical reflection.

This Edpuzzle activity was inspired by our recent focus on integrating environmental issues into Media Arts. It features the short film “Step Into a Miniature World of Animated Paper Wildlife” by National Geographic and encourages students to analyze stop-motion animation techniques, visual storytelling choices, and the communication of environmental messages without dialogue.

Given the film’s brevity (2:39), the Edpuzzle includes four carefully selected questions that guide students toward deeper observation and critical thinking. When using this in class, I would first show the film in its entirety to allow students to experience the full narrative. This approach supports more focused analysis during the second viewing, where students engage with the embedded questions and explore the film’s media language and underlying message.
