My name is Lori Woods. I have taught third grade for eight years. Currently I am serving at the York Academy Regional Charter school. I provide unique and exciting learning experiences for my students.

I graduated with my Bachelor's degree from Lancaster Bible College in December of 2011 and from Wilkes University in 2015.

Achieving my Master’s Degree in Education and Classroom Technology and becoming a Google Certified Educator have thoroughly equipped me to be an effective teacher. I have taken strides to know my students’ individual learning styles and academic needs to better form my instruction and enhance student achievement using technology and proven effective teaching methods that coincide with the Universal Design for Learning. I have created instructional videos to aide and assist my students with learning. I continually seek professional development to remain current with best practices and emerging technologies to advance learning. I have just begun a second Master's degree program which will include an Instructional Technology Specialist certification.

I have developed an immense love for teaching, which has taught me that patience and flexibility are fundamental. I add a positive ,as well as balanced approach to the classroom meeting the individual, diverse needs of the students. Students have a better chance at success if they are taught at their readiness levels as well as their interest and learning styles. I am able to enhance learning and methods of differentiation through my expertise in music and technology.

I provide multiple methods of learning for my students which include hands-on experiences. My class had a pet guinea pig, Pork Chop, which I was able to get him through a “Pets in the Classroom” grant from http://www.petsintheclassroom.org/. Having Pork Chop in the classroom has been fun. Throughout the school year the lunch ladies and custodian bring him veggie scraps. He has learned the sound of the door coming from the cafeteria. The moment he hears the door, he begins squealing in excitement and expectation.

Teaching is always an adventure, never dull, never the same. I wouldn’t give up this profession for the world!
