Preparation

Our Engineers will work with teachers to prepare for the coaching cycle. 

GOAL SETTING:

• The teacher and engineer work in partnership to set goals with an area of teaching / learning that the teacher would like to focus on.

• Initial data collection or observation of classroom environment and students takes place; ideally this involves video taping with a Swivl camera. 

• The teacher engages in watching the video footage and reflects to refine the goals.

LEARNING: 

• The teacher and engineer meet to discuss an instructional strategy and to plan a lesson.

• The engineer models the strategy and with a gradual release model the teacher uses the strategy.

REFLECTION:

• Follow up data is collected through video taping the teacher delivering the lesson.

• The teacher views the video and further reflects on the goal. 

• The teacher and engineer meet to reflect on the use of the strategy and if goals were met.
