Students will
Communicate and act safely in a busy kitchen
Learn ServSafe food handling skills, including handling produce, raw meat and shellfish, cooking to proper internal temperatures, and hygienic practices in serving food
Join instructors on trips to the grocery, where we practice working with a budget and making healthy choices
Students will:
Practice proper knife technique
Learn to use different kitchen utensils and equipment
Gain confidence in cooking for themselves and others for meals in cheaper, healthier ways than eating out
Grow and develop outside of traditional academic spaces, including creativity with dishes, self confidence, and communication
Students will:
Work with cuisines from all over the world and alongside guests with deep cultural and culinary knowledge
Be exposed to the stories, specialty ingredients, and cultural context behind the meals that they cook
Interact with the world through food
