Through Randall's Island Park Alliance (RIPA), Ben Averbuch of The Student Kitchen leads cooking workshops and live demos. Whether highlighting fresh ingredients from Randall's Island Urban Farm for food pantries with LSA Family Health Service, serving food at RIPA open hours, or leading student workshops, The Student Kitchen is determined to bring fresh, local produce to families and students!
For MESA's spring break Intersession program, The Student Kitchen led a week of workshops. Students participated in the full range of our programming, and even designed a buffet style lunch for 50+ students and staff on the last day!
In collaboration with Publicolor, The Student Kitchen brought our programming to over 80 students grades 6-12 in January 2025! Students learned about nutrition, basic food chemistry, and get hands-on experience in a kitchen environment.
On December 21st, 2024, The Student Kitchen catered for Bushwick Ayuda Mutua's Holiday Toy Drive. The Student Kitchen and volunteers prepared food for 200 children and their families! The Student Kitchen also served guests at a May 2025 Community Cares event.
