LOGLINE: Two Native American female artists navigate inspirational traditions of the past, and their envisioned entrepreneurship of the future. 

SYNOPSIS:  THonoring their birth right gifted to them from Spider Woman of Navajo tradition, two artisan weavers, Barbara Teller Ornelas and Tasheena Littleben, share their visions of bringing beauty and balance into their lives through their work. For both, weaving is an act of resilience and a divine connection to freedom. 

PBS: THREADS is one of eight films in the PBS Digital Studios series, “The Story in Us”, a new anthology series premiering on the PBS Documentaries channel on YouTube. Produced in collaboration with PBS Creative Voices Ignite Filmmakers Program, the eight-part series explores how culture, history, and identity are preserved through the universal art of storytelling.

Director’s Bio: Isabel Guayasamin is an Ecuadorian documentary filmmaker whose work explores cultural identity, human resilience, and collective memory through intimate, character-driven storytelling. Working across South America, North America, Europe, and the Middle East, she creates films that center underrepresented voices and examine the relationship between people, land, and lived experience.
