Meredy Thompson has loved books for as long as she can remember—ever since a spark ignited in the 5th or 6th grade and slowly grew into a full-blown (and proudly admitted) obsession.
In 2025, Meredy began sharing her passion for reading on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, posting book reviews, recommendations, and plenty of bookish memes and videos. Along the way, she discovered the world of mobile bookstores—and that’s where the dream of The Readery was born.
Naming things is one of Meredy’s quirks, and she knew she wanted something that instantly reflected the heart of her mission. The Readery perfectly captured it: a space created “for the love of reading.”
Today, The Readery’s full-time location sits in the parking lot of her husband’s leather shop, Thompson’s Customs, where the whole family pitches in to bring the bookstore to life. You’ll often see her husband, Michael, and their sons, Merrick and McCrae, helping out. Every bookshelf inside The Readery was handmade by Michael—adding an extra layer of heart to the space.
When she’s not at her full-time job at the local college in Altus, you’ll find Meredy spending a few weeknights and Saturdays inside her cozy mobile bookstore—sharing stories, helping readers find their next favorite book, and building a community one visit at a time.
