Following these tips can help increase your hatch rate and give your chicks the best start possible.
Before Incubation
. Allow eggs to rest for 12-14 hours after arrival,pointy end down,
before placing them in the incubator.
.Do not wash hatching eggs.
Washing removes the
natural bloom that protects the egg.
. Store eggs at 55-65 F
if you are not setting them immediately.
. Set the eggs within 7 days
of receiving the best results.
Incubator Setup
.Run your incubator 24 hours
before setting eggs.
to ensure temperature and humidity are stable.
. Forced-air incubator: 99.5 F
.Still-air incubation: 101 F
. Ideal humidity for days 1-18 is 45-55 %
LockDown (Days 18-21)
. Increase humidity to 65-75 %
. Do Not open the incubator
unless absolutely necessary.
.Chicks may take up to 24 hours
after pipping to hatch this is normal.
After Hatch
. Leave chicks in the incubator
until they are dry and fluffy.
.Move chicks to pre-warmed brooders
(90 -95 F for week one )
.Provide clean water and chick
starter feed immediately.
