About
What is The Poe Project
We--a loosely associated group of people in Grand Junction, Colorado who do this sort of thing--are The Poe Project.
What started as a humble dinner party with friends to honor Edgar Allan Poe in 2011 grew into a multi-event, week-long (or more) celebration of Poe and his works. The Poe Project has ebbed and flowed the past several years before its current incarnation.
Today, The Poe Project is spearheaded and presented by Colorado nonprofit Geek Parties of the Grand Valley. Events throughout the first week of October (usually culminating on Poe's death date of October 7th) include live readings and performances of Poe's works, gallery shows, community radio broadcasts, partnerships with local businesses, and more. We invest in our community by giving a portion of the proceeds from each and every event to the local non-profit of the sponsor’s choice.
Anyone can make a Poe Event. To be eligible to be a part of The Poe Project, the event must:
Be Edgar Allan Poe-themed, Poe-adjacent, or Poe-inspired
Be partnered with a local sponsoring business
Benefit a local non-profit of the sponsor’s choice
