Rowena's love for education started with the teachers who inspired her and she's been paying it forward ever since. After earning her degree in Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College in Boston, she stepped into mentoring, guiding new educators through their exciting (and slightly nerve-wracking) first year. Today, Rowena leads the Curriculum Department at Babilou Family Singapore, championing curriculum quality, developing innovative programmes and training for fellow educators. She's also a certified Developmental Play Practitioner and Infant Massage Instructor, blending heart, science, and a whole lot of play into her work.
Children don't make a mess by accident, they make a mess on purpose, because mess is how they learn. That flour-dusted floor, lotion smeared everywhere, or spilled juice "experiment" isn't chaos for chaos's sake, it is a scientist at work, testing textures, cause and effect, and the rules of a world that does not make sense yet. This lightning round flips the script on mess: instead of something to stop, clean up, or fear, it is the necessary process children pass through before the magic of learning really clicks.
Participants will leave knowing why sensory play is a powerhouse for growing brains, why "spotless" play might be quietly costing children some of that magic, and most importantly, walking away ready to embrace a little more mess in their classrooms and homes.
