Lik Qi is an Early Childhood Inclusion Specialist with a Master's degree in Early Childhood Special Education and over seven years of experience working alongside young children. She has led inclusive preschool classrooms where neurodivergent and neurotypical children learned and grew alongside one another, shaping her conviction that every child deserves to feel included, valued, and understood.
Grounded in the understanding that behaviour is communication, she empowers educators and families to better understand children's social-emotional development, sensory processing, and individual support needs, helping them see beyond behaviours to each child's strengths, needs, and experiences.
At the heart of her work is a simple belief: meaningful inclusion begins when every child feels seen, supported, and that they belong.
What if I told you we have more than five senses?
Join me as we uncover the three "hidden senses" - vestibular, proprioception, and interoception - and discover how these often-overlooked senses shape children's behaviour, emotional regulation, learning, and overall well-being.
In this lightning talk, we will explore why some behaviours may reflect unmet sensory needs, and how play can be a powerful tool for helping children feel more regulated, connected, and ready to learn.
You will leave with a new lens for understanding children's behaviour and practical play-based strategies that support regulation, participation, and inclusion in everyday environments.
