Drag is one of many variables to consider while skiing. Especially competitive skiing. The choice of body posture and clothing is important if you want to minimize drag. Drag can affect the skier more if the skier is wearing baggy clothes and is standing up straight while going straight down the mountain. Baggy clothes affect the skier's drag because the clothes have more resistance to the wind if they ski down the mountain quickly. If that skier is standing straight up while going down the mountain quickly, that will add more air resistance since the air is pushing the skier back because of the stance. For professional race skiers to get rid of these variables while skiing down the mountain they wear tight clothing and do a stance known as the "Tuck" The tuck is where the skier lowers their stance and levels the pack parallel to the slope while their poles are tucked under their arms. Then the skier pushes forward, making them go faster down the mountain. The pictures to the right of this text block are professional race skiers doing the "Tuck" stance.
