Mission Statement

The People’s Voice (TPV) is a student-led project that arose out of the Student Intifada which seeks to condemn both capitalism and imperialism. We perceive Illinois State University (ISU) to be a deeply disengaged campus and wish to call forth a critical analysis of the contradictions within the United States. We attempt to create a provocative newspaper that disrupts the status quo. The University exists as a place to socially reproduce a labor aristocracy which turns a blind eye towards atrocities like the genocide in Gaza. ISU serves the imperialist world order where the majority of humans are kept impoverished. TPV began as an independent project in the Fall 2024 then was voted to merge with the Young Democratic Socialists of America at Illinois State (YDSA@ISU) in the Spring of 2025, though our writing remains autonomous to TPV itself.
