The People's Voice is a student newspaper that is democratically organized, run, and student owned—beholden to no Illinois State University administration or "Board of Trustees" interests. Our freedom from any University interests is crucial, as it allows us to create engaging and critical pieces on the state of the mass of students, faculty, staff, and workers alike.
In the present, other University-backed publications are uncritical of the University and are therefore not democratically organized, ran, or owned. Due to this issue, current publications like The Vidette or WGLT do not reflect current climate of student and faculty life at ISU.
