Homeschooling

Geography is one of those lessons that makes you realise how the world works and it gives you that grounding before you even begin to go places. It opens your eyes to things around you and gives you a look at how cultures work and how the world can be deadly as well as beautiful. Personally, geography’s taught me to be aware that the world’s constantly changing and that being factual and precise can be as good as important as being imaginative. It’s so inspiring and surrounds us in everyday life. This is why I think geography is so crucial to learn. 

I can offer a complete GCSE course for homeschooled pupils, taking the pressure off busy parents who can then concentrate on other subjects.  The course follows the Eduqas A GCSE specification and is available to pupils on a one-to-one basis or as a small group class (subject to availability). Parents should note that this GCSE course is only available to pupils in England. However, I can offer a similar course for pupils in Wales (please contact me for more details). 

The course is delivered via two 1 hour sessions per week commencing in September.  Current rates are £25 per session* (one-to-one) or £10 per session (small class).  Pupils will be supplied with a copy of the relevant textbook (at additional cost) and will have access resources on this website via the Classroom link.  Parents will be expected to make arrangements with a local centre so that pupils can sit the final written examinations. 

Fieldwork forms an important element of the GCSE. Pupils will be expected to undertake this single-handedly (with help from the parents of course!).  Where possible, the fieldwork locations will be selected close to home, but will include two separate days in contrasting environments.  I can provide a transcript of the fieldwork which will then need signing off by the Head of Centre where the final written exams are taken.

*The course fee of £25 per session is a discounted rate for pupils who are signed up to the complete GCSE course which runs for 18 months.  Pupils that discontinue the course, but opt for normal one-to-one tuition will be charged at the standard rate of £35 per session.

I am currently accepting registrations for the new course starting in September.  Please note that places in the small group class are subject to availability.  If places are not available for the group class, pupils will still be offered one-to-one tuition at the discounted rate.
