IFC Studios Internship
Fall Semester 2024
Fall Semester 2024
I worked with Amy Mertz to brainstorm the plot and structure of the project. She guided me in creating questions for interview subjects. I created a structure to better understand how the student felt the next step program helped to improve their experience and knowledge through the internship class. I created a flow within the script of interview questions to help with the editing later on in the project.
I set up an interview set up at every location I visited. I focused on a two-camera setup with mics attached to each camera for the best audio. I made it just to give subjects high-key lighting, with an interesting background. I made subjects in focus, while the background was blurred to focus viewers on the speaker. I then conducted interviews from behind the camera. I used the Sony ZV-E10 and the Sony A6600 (my new favorite) camera for this project. I also gained more confidence in working with Aputure lights and setting up an effective lit set.
I completed five interviews to compile into this project. I organized shooting times, set up the set, and most importantly communicated with interview subjects to make sure we were on the same page about the questions that would be, asked and that they felt comfortable speaking on camera. I tired my best to create a relaxed interview environment, and I then conducted and directed interviews.
Here is a view of my editing setup through Adobe Premier Pro, and a glimpse into the color editing as well as the many versions that I created. I had created a number of different folders for my interviews. I also created a multi-cam view of interviews when I used a two-camera set up. I made sure to go through a general edit, then edit the color of each clip, and then the audio of each clip. I added music, subtitles, and graphics to perfect the project.
