My Core Beliefs
⭐All writing is art.
Whether it's a best selling novel, a passion-driven fan fic, a cute character bio, or even an Amazon item listing! Not all writing may be equal, but all forms of writing carry the potential to be masterpieces in their own right. That idea extends to different media forms as well! One can't write a book like one writes a TV show, a video game, an advertisment, or a twitter post. Every form of writing should consider its purpose and aim to fulfill that purpose in the best way possible.
⭐The universe is made of stories
Every person has a thousand stories, both real and imaginary, that all blend together into the anthology of the universe. Stories are what let us remember the past, create the future, build connections and destroy them. For this reason, I've dedicated my life to absorbing, dissecting, understanding, and creating stories of every shape, size, and shade. I wholeheartedly believe that nothing is more important than the stories that we create: the stories that we are.
⭐People don't know very much (That's a good thing)
Pluto isn't a planet, agave syrup isn't better than sugar, and both of these facts are still up for debate. Truly, we live in a world where humanity knows very little and where everything can change in a few years time. Personally, I love that! What good is a story without twists and turns? Why bother with fantasy if the facts are absoloute? Embracing uncertainty and imagining possibilities is exactly what I love most about fiction, which is why they are concepts that I explore in just about every facit of my writing.
⭐Dark needs Light, Sugar needs Spice
We all need a little joy in our lives. We all need a little sadness too. And fury. And hate. And humor. No one can afford to stay in one frame of mind for to long. As such, I believe there's plenty of room for stories of all emotions. Comedy, tragedies, horrors, thrillers, romances, and maybe even everything all at once! There's a time and a place for dark topics and serious discusions, but also for fluffy fun and silliness. All one needs is to know their limits.
⭐The best author in the whole world is Jesus
It's true though! The drama, the intrigue, the wholesomeness, the angst: everything in the world has been perfectly written through a blend of free will and divine oversight. There's nothing new under the sun, they say, and if I were to model myself after an author, I'd rather follow the one who made the sun and everything under it.
When I was about ten years old, I was obsessed with a particular television show about candy-colored ponies. That show was my first in many respects: my first fandom, my first published story, my first experience with critique, and most importantly, my first Original character. She was a self-insert unicorn represented by a crossed lollipop and magic wand. The symbol was, I thought, was a very clever representation of my writing...
The Wand represented my love for fiction, fantasy, magic, and impossible things coming true.
The Lolipop represented my desire for heroes, kindness, and happy endings (Also candy!)
Even when my love for that show deminished, the emblem I used continued to remain a symbol in my life. It even snuck its way into my grown-up signature! For me, this emblem is a promise to my younger self. Even as an adult who likes exploring worlds of twisted darkness, tragedy, bittersweetness, and fear, it serves as a reminder to never give up those childhood loves for sugary sweetness and sparkling magic.
Things that Inspire Me!
"My apprenticeship was over, but there was still work to be done."
""You seem an ill-tempered and irascible enough child,"
""My ancestors are counting on me."
"Remember the Knight."
Thanks for reading all this! I'm glad you took the time to know about me, and I hope to learn more about you too!
