The Poisoned Gift
The Poisoned Gift
The thief could not bear her distance. “I love you,” he confessed to Ophelia. “My love belongs to the stars and Evangeline,” Ophelia answered softly. Her refusal cut deep. That night, his claimed love turned to rage.
He found Evangeline alone, her fur reflecting the moon, and fed her a fish laced with poison. When the wolf’s heart stopped, the forest fell silent. Ophelia came shooting down to the Earth leaving trails of scorching fire. Her cry roared through the forest as she saw her companion still and beatless. Every star dimmed in grief. The thief attempted to flee, but Ophelia’s fury created seething wolves of smoke and flame, tearing apart his miserable heart.
