Retreat FAQs
Can I bring my dog?
The Neue Regensburgerhuette does allow dogs; the Jamtalhuette does not. Please contact me directly before booking to inquire about this possibility.
How many people can join these retreats?
Up to 8 participants, plus me!
I think hiking three-four hours at high elevation to get to the hut is too much for me; can I still come to this retreat?
Please consider your health and fitness levels before signing up for this event. We will not be racing to the top, but you should be in good physical health and feel confident in your capabilities to tackle the hike to the hut.
The hike to the NRH is quite steep. We climb 1050 high meters in only 4km. That's similar to climbing 350 flights of stairs.
The hike to the Jamtalhuette is fairly moderate the whole way. It wanders through a valley for about 8km, climbing about 500 high meters throughout the hike.
Are all the yoga classes, day hikes, evening meditations, or indoor climbing sessions mandatory?
No! Only the welcome circle is mandatory. If you have the desire to do your own thing or hike extra long one day, go for it. However, all the events are highly encouraged to help you meet the group, build new friendships, and enjoy the retreat!
Will you teach me how to indoor rock climb at the Jamtalhuette?
Nope! I'm a beginner at that, too. If you decide to use the wall it is at your own risk. The hut staff can provide basic guidelines and perhaps some of our fellow retreat participants can offer tips, however you are on your own.
What if I'm a beginner at yoga?
Yoga experience will be helpful during the classes and I will always offer modifications. If you have never done yoga before, I suggest starting a stretch routine, practicing yoga in your city, or finding some classes on YouTube before the event! I have online content on my Instagram page: @the.movement.community
Can I have my own private room?
Yes, but you will have to pay for both spaces in the double room that you'll occupy.
What should I pack?
Layers! Sunscreen/sunglasses, warm hat, hiking shoes, rain coat, sports clothing, hiking poles, toiletries, earplugs, bed sheet or hut sleep sack, sleeping bag or blanket, bug repellent, additional snacks, ability to carry at least 2 liters of water, money to buy drinks/snacks, passport, DAV/OAV membership card if you have it, your yoga mat!
Pack as lightly as possible to make the hike simpler. Travel size everything!
Wait really, I have to haul my yoga mat up a mountain?
Yes! But both huts do offer luggage transport! If you are interested in this service be prepared to pay 10-15 euros each way and notify me in advance.
What will the day hikes be like? Are the guided?
The day hikes that are planned are not professionally guided, as I am not a certified mountain guide. I will have an itinerary for each day and take some hikes myself and if you want to join me for any hikes, you are of course welcome! You will join the hikes at your own risk.Â
Each day hike is between 3-5 hours round trip, some with low elevation climb (150hm) some with more (500hm).
What language is this event in?
All instruction is in English.
What if it rains?
There's a saying I like that goes, "There's no bad weather, only bad gear." :)
Yes, we'll go even if it rains! As for yoga sessions, most of the classes will occur inside one of the seminar rooms, but in good weather we'll be outside on the yoga-platform or Helicopter pad!
There will be some replacement activities instead of day-hikes if it is pouring rain.
Can my friend/spouse/partner/self-sufficient kid come, but skip all the yoga?
Please just shoot me an email if this is the case! I might not be able to give away my participants' spaces for your person not doing yoga, but we might still be able to work it out with the hut and I can assist with that.
What methods can I use to pay?
For this event I'll be accepting direct Bank Transfers via IBAN transfer. If that doesn't work for you, please send me an email.
Should I sign up for this retreat?
If you are interested in adventuring, meeting new people, sharing yoga practices and high quality convos, beautiful mountain views, a mental break from the grind and hut snuggles, then yes!! If you're hesitant, let me know why: erinwilsonyoga@gmail.com
