The Experiences of Loveday Brooke; Lady Detective Series by C.L Pirkis

C.L Pirkis (born Catherine Louisa Pirkis in 1839) was a novelist, journalist, and short story writer who focused specifically on crime, detectives, and overall: mystery. Her biggest series included stories revolving around her character, Loveday Brooke, but she possesses an otherwise prolific bibliography. Much of her life outside of writing was dedicated to the protection of animals as well as the anti-vivisectionist movement, and she would die in 1910 of illness.
