The Meeting Place is a great place to pitch in. Some of our volunteers already have a church home but want to help out in a more street focused context. Others volunteer because The Meeting Place is their church. Church doesn't have to be your thing, you may just want a place to be connected in the neighbourhood.  

Here are a few ways people can get involved:

• Hospitality: Being the person behind the  coffee bar is a great way to meet new people and show that they are valued with a warm cup of coffee or tea. Extraverts love it because they get to talk to everyone, and introverts love the safety of interacting with people within the boundaries of a set role.

• Clean Up: Washing dishes, wiping tables and sweeping up is so important. We need to leave 541 ready for business during the week. This is usually done over lots of  great conversation and laughter.

• Music & Creativity: There is always room for more people to help with leading music, playing along, or sharing a song that is meaningful to you. We value creativity in all its forms. Our pastor has a visual arts background and is always looking for ways to bring beauty and the arts into our services.

• Prayer Team: Do you have a heart for praying for people who come through the doors at 541?  We are building a Thursday morning prayer team and would love to have you in the mix.  There are also opportunities on Sundays to lead prayer or help pray for people's needs.

The Meeting Place has a long history of mentoring students & interns. There are a number of pastors, front line workers, and ministry leaders right here in Hamilton (and beyond) that gained unique and valuable  ministry experience at The Meeting Place. 

Our pastor, Randell Neudorf  (Randy) has a degree in fine arts from York University and is ordained with Mennonite Church Canada. He has been working in a diverse range of ministries for the past 20 years with experiences in Church Planting, Pastoring, Leading Community Spaces, Gang Prevention, Street Youth Ministry, 24-7 Prayer Ministry, Worship Leading, and Visual Arts Ministries. 

We also have good working relationships with other churches and ministries in the city that might be able to help you with  your specific learning goals.
