Donations

Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (pt. 4)

On Wednesday March 24, TheMaskTask made a donation of 60 masks to the VMC Foundation for the fourth time! Even as more and more people get vaccinated and herd immunity builds up, masks are still needed, especially in a hospital setting. Many doctors and nurses interact with COVID patients daily, and they need to stay protected. The road is looking bright ahead, but masks are still important!

Family Supportive Housing Shelter

On Friday January 8, TheMaskTask donated 100 masks to a family homeless shelter located in San Jose. There remains a drastically increased transmission rate of COVID-19 in homeless shelters due to unsanitary conditions and lack of PPE. Until the vaccine is available to these residents, they will need to stay safe with the help of more conventional methods, such as, regular mask-wearing.

Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (pt. 3)

On Thursday November 5, TheMaskTask donated 100 masks to the VMC Foundation, making it their third donation to this hospital! As we approach the colder months, COVID-19 cases around the world are beginning to surge and the need for masks and other PPE has been renewed. This donation also marks the 1,000 masks donated milestone for TheMaskTask!

Sunnyvale County Winter Shelter

On Wednesday September 30, TheMaskTask donated 80 masks to a HomeFirst homeless shelter in Sunnyvale. Although homeless shelters have the potential of widespread transmission, the Sunnyvale County Winter Shelter had many COVID regulations in place and all residents were social distancing. The masks donated are durable and will be used by staff and residents at the shelter.

Schools in Milpitas

On Wednesday September 16, TheMaskTask donated 30 children's masks to Zanker Elementary School and 30 masks to Rancho Milpitas Middle School. These masks will be given to students and their families to keep everyone in the community safe!

Santa Clara County Fire Dept. Headquarters

On Friday September 4, TheMaskTask donated 90 masks to the Santa Clara County Fire Dept. Headquarters. The wildfires that started in Santa Cruz and the Bay Area have quickly engulfed the entirety of the West Coast and have been an ongoing battle for everyone, but they would have caused much more damage without the firefighters, who have sacrificed so much to keep everyone safe. These masks will be used by firefighters and their families!

St. Joseph K-8 School

On Sunday August 23, TheMaskTask donated 75 masks to the St. Joseph K-8 school. These masks will be used by students, their families, and parishioners in need of masks! Mask wearing can be compared to herd immunity with vaccines, in the way that if more individuals wear cloth face coverings, in public places, then the community is better protected as a whole. In other words, more people wearing face masks means the pandemic ending sooner!

Sunny View Retirement Community

On Tuesday August 4, TheMaskTask donated 130 masks to the Sunny View Retirement Community. The elderly are at the greatest risk for serious illness caused by COVID-19, which has spread throughout elder-care facilities across the country, resulting in severe illness in many. These masks will be used by both the residents and the staff at Sunny View to keep everyone safer.

Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (pt. 2)

On Wednesday July 29, TheMaskTask donated another 100 masks to the Valley Medical Center. The global supply chain of PPE has not been mended and COVID-19 remains persistent, therefore there remains a constant demand of reusable face masks within healthcare facilities in the Bay Area. On the bright side, since March, over 5 million units of PPE have been donated to the VMC Foundation, and hopefully this trend continues!

Santa Clara Valley Medical Center

On Tuesday July 7, TheMaskTask donated 100 masks to the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, which currently has a great need for PPE. Doctors and nurses are working around the clock to save lives and they should not need to worry about having sufficient face masks. These masks will be used by both doctors and patients at the hospital and hopefully will make their lives easier and safer!

Physical Therapy Center

On Tuesday June 16, TheMaskTask donated 20 masks to a physical therapy center in San Diego. Most of the physical therapy patients are at-risk, elderly individuals dealing with past injuries, retaining mobility, or restoring functionality. This donation will help protect those who are more vulnerable to COVID-19 and allows them to continue to attend their crucial PT appointments.

PackagedCare

On Thursday June 11, TheMaskTask donated 20 masks to PackagedCare, an organization, which hand delivered these masks along with other essential items to the homeless community in downtown San Jose. The homeless, especially those not in shelters, do not have access to the materials (soap, water, etc.) needed to ensure cleanliness during COVID-19. Also, many are older or have underlying medical conditions, making it even more important for people to provide them with vital materials during this pandemic.

LifeMoves Homeless Shelter

On Wednesday May 27, TheMaskTask donated 100 masks to LifeMoves Homeless Shelter in San Jose. Homeless shelters have the potential of widespread transmission of COVID-19 since they are often crowded, making social distancing difficult. However, the usage of face masks will substantially minimize transmission.
